Parkpoint Sonoma

The artists exhibiting at Parkpoint Health Clubs are members of the club or our very own staff. The Buchanan family (Club owners) are delighted to showcase the art of their members and staff, and feel blessed to have their clubs enjoy such beautiful work. They are grateful to have so many talented artists in all three clubs. It has been a pleasure to share their appreciation of art with all the members and Parkpoint community.

If you would like to be considered for the opportunity to feature your artwork at Parkpoint Sonoma, send your website or photos to stephanie@parkpointhealthclub.com.

Linda Arons

After receiving a BA degree in design from the University of California at Berkeley and a California teaching credential in elementary education, I was an art and classroom teacher (K8) in several East Bay school districts for 39 years. While teaching art at Oakland Unified School District, my students and I created “Landmarks of San Francisco”—14 yarn stitcheries depicting well-known San Francisco landmarks—all sewn by 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students at Fruitvale Elementary School in Oakland. These were displayed at a childrens’ art exhibit at San Franscisco International Airport. My students and I also created and gifted to the city of Oakland “The Pride of Oakland,” a stitchery wall hanging depicting 20 well-known Oakland landmarks that is permanently on display at City Hall in Oakland. I also wrote and illustrated ART PROJECTS MADE EASY: Recipes for Fun—an art education book for elementary school teachers, published by Teacher Ideas Press, a division of Libraries Unlimited, Inc. and taught classes at the Community Center in Sonoma in which students applied my fabric, yarn, and beads technique to their work.

Upon retirement, I developed an original mixed media art technique using various combinations of yarn, embroidery thread, beads, and fabric. Each piece has a different subject and each subject is either a unique design or represents actual figurative content. Of the numerous principles of art, I concentrate on color, contrast, and composition (my “three C’s”) when creating my work. The pieces exhibited here are not for sale, but I would consider creating additional pieces upon commission.
